Frequently Asked Questions

MonCash is a mobile wallet that allows daily financial transactions between MonCash users, regardless of their location in Haiti. Users can perform the following transactions on a daily basis:

  • Hold money in their MonCash account for day-to-day purchases
  • Receive international money transfers
  • Send money between MonCash users by using their phone number
  • Cash In money to their MonCash account
  • Cash Out money from their MonCash account
  • Purchase Digicel bundles of minutes or data
  • Pay affiliated merchants
  • Pay bills
  • Receive payroll payments

Opening a MonCash account is completely free.

To register dial *202# and press Send or download the MonCash App. You will be taken through the registration menu and be asked to provide the following information:

  1. Last name
  2. First name
  3. Date of birth (DD/MM/YYYY)
  4. Choose a type of ID (Driver’s License, voter’s ID or Passport. Please note that this document must be valid)
  5. Provide the number of the ID you chose.
  6. Select your gender.
  7. Provide your address
  8. Choose a personal PIN code (do not share it with anyone)
  9. Enter the PIN code again to confirm.

After completing the process, you will have a MonCash Plus account with a limit of 100,000 HTG, you will be able to send money, pay bills, recharge, pay merchants, cash out or receive international transfers.

You can open a MonCash account with your full name and date of birth. However, you will have a limited account where you can only check your balance and change your PIN. To be able to use all MonCash features including receiving money, you must complete the identification process by providing a valid ID.

When using MonCash there are some fees that may apply, however the following transactions are completely free:

  • Opening or upgrading your MonCash account
  • Cashing In or depositing money in your own MonCash account (self-cash in)
  • Recharging a Digicel Phone number
  • Paying affiliated merchants
  • Paying your bills

Fees may apply when utilizing MonCash for other transactions, such as transferring money at an agent location (OTC) and when withdrawing or cashing out money from your account.

Yes, when using MonCash, limits apply when sending p2p transfers and performing Cash In or Out transactions. Different limits may apply depending on whether you're using MonCash on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. Please see below all the details on the number of transactions allowed per customer.

We made some changes in the app that might be beneficial for you:

  • You can now upgrade to a MonCash Plus account completely remotely. With just a few taps you can complete the identification process, increase your account limit and receive international money transfers.
  • We upgraded the MonCash app to improve your experience. We added biometric credentials (fingerprints and facial recognition) so you can easily log in and confirm transactions.
  • The app now allows you to include decimals in all transactions to be precise when sending money or making payments, along with other improvements in the app's look and feel.
  • You can reset your secret PIN from your phone.

The MonCash app is available for both Android and iOS.

To sign up or register to the MonCash App, download the App from your Google Play store or iOS App store, and follow the process on-screen. Make sure that the SIM card associated with the phone number you intend to register with is in your device.

You will have to provide your Last name, first name, Date of birth (DD/ MM/YYYY), and a valid ID (Driver’s License, voter’s ID or Passport).

Enter the number of the ID you have chosen, select your gender, choose a personal PIN code (do not share it with anyone), and enter the PIN code again to confirm.

After doing so, the MonCash App will send a 6-digit code via SMS to the phone number provided to verify it is you.  For your safety, please do not share this code with anyone. You are now ready to use the MonCash App!

Once you provide this information, you will have a limited account and will need to go through the identification process which consists in providing a valid ID card and a selfie,

After completing the process, you will have a MonCash Plus account with a limit of 100,000 HTG, you will be able to send money, pay bills, recharge, pay merchants, cash out or receive international transfers.

You can use the MonCash app if you are already a MonCash customer. To log in to the MonCash App, enter your current MonCash phone number and your PIN.

If you do not have a MonCash account, the application will ask you to register. Customers are also able to log in using their fingerprints or their phone’s face recognition system.

Yes, you can complete the identification process for your account by following the steps in the MonCash App.

No. Your information and money are linked to your MonCash account regardless of the device or method you are using to access your account.

Use your phone number and PIN to log in to the MonCash App and you will be able to see your balance, latest transactions, perform transactions and so much more.

If your account is not identified yet, you will need go through the verification process.

When sending money to a user who does not have a smartphone nor has downloaded the app, you just have to log in your MonCash App, type in their phone number and press the Send Money button.

Transactions are done from your MonCash account to another MonCash account regardless of the device the recipient has.

If you have not completed the identification process for your account, you will only be able to check your balance and make one MonCash-to-MonCash transfer (p2p) or cash out to retrieve the money you had left on the account.

Keep in mind that  there will be fees associated with doing these transactions.

No, there are no charges associated with signing up to the MonCash app.

The MonCash QR Code is a two-dimensional barcode that contains information about the user who will receive the transaction. The MonCash QR code will allow you to make payments and receive money with the MonCash App simply by scanning the code with your phone camera.

With the MonCash QR code, customers minimize any error caused by saying a phone number out-loud whichs avoids sending cash to the wrong user or people listening to the amount of money you are sending.

You will be able to find your QR code in your MonCash App by looking for the icon named “My QR”.

You can use the MonCash QR code in two ways:

  1. Paying for items: MonCash can be used to send money to a merchant and to pay for the items customers buy at selected locations. So, whenever you go to a store look for a MonCash QR code at the cashier. Once you see it, sign in to your MonCash App and press "Pay". Then, scan the MonCash QR code in front of you and you'll be able to pay for your purchase.
  2. Sending or Receiving money: press the “My QR” icon once you have it visible, ask the other MonCash user to scan your code using their smartphone camera. After they scan it, they will be able to identify your account and transfer money.

For a limited time period there will be no additional charges when using the MonCash QR code to send money MonCash-to-MonCash (p2p).

The QR code contains personal information such as your phone number to identify your account. However, it does not contain the amount of money available in your account. The QR Code is meant to keep information private and to enable faster transactions.

Yes, with the MonCash QR code, your personal information is completely protected and encrypted. Only you will have access to your QR code, and only you will be able to access your information to make payments to merchants conveniently or scan to send and receive money.

There are many benefits to being a MonCash user :

  1. You have full control over your money with complete visibility on all your transactions, knowing where your money is going.
  2. You can receive money from anywhere in the world when your friends or family send international money transfers.
  3. Send money across Haiti, pay merchants, and pay bills all conveniently in one place. Enjoy three times the amount when you recharge your Digicel phone using MonCash.
  4. Sending money to other MonCash users through QR codes is free!

The first step to receive international money transfers in your MonCash account is to become a MonCash Plus user. You can upgrade to MonCash Plus via two options:

  1. MonCash App:
    Log in to your MonCash app and follow the instructions on the main screen to opt-in
  2. Visiting a Digicel Regional office, select Digicel stores, MonCash agents or MonCash representatives:
    You will need to provide information such as your ID number and a picture ID to continue with the Full Wallet process.

To verify that you are a MonCash Plus customer, you need to follow these steps:

  1. Dial *202#
  2. Select option 5
  3. Select option 3

If the type is full KYC, it means you have a MonCash Plus account.

Your SIM must be in the phone with the MonCash app installed. A keyboard will not appear, as the OTP will automatically populate once the code has been received via SMS.
